[20mm Cold War] SAS Alpha (Enfilade-Figures)

Liebe Leser,

Dan

Dear Readers,

finally I had the time to finish the fourth SAS soldier of the Enfilade-Figures set I reviewed a few weeks ago. The minis were fun to paint and I am very pleased with my first attempt of painting DPM-camo.
On the other hand I had no time to work on my own MENA Insurgent. He will have to wait till I am back from Berlin next month. Some more SAS models by Enfilade-Figures have enlisted for my Berlin-trip, so I hope to get some time and passion to paint though.

Best regards and have a great time

Dan

[20mm Review] Enfilade-Figures I (SAS03)

As always you can find an English version of this post below the German one.

Liebe Leser,

Ausstattung:

Dan

Dear readers,

actually I had no time or passion to finish any models over the last year. Only basecoated miniatures are on and around my table and different boxes of all scales.
Mid last year I ordered some miniatures of Enfilade-Figures (http://enfilade-figures.com/) and asked Robert if I could do a review. As he agreed I am happy to do this review in the first post of 2016 – Happy new year ev'ryone! - .
Altough I bought a few packs of his miniatures I want to show you one of his Cold-War SAS sets today. (http://enfilade-figures.com/wargamingfigures/cold-war-sas-m16-team-2)
The pricing of his minis is quite good and with 1 € (eur) per miniature (around 0,75 GBP) comparable to most other companies. Lets take a look at the minis (basecoated for the sake of a better photograph).

Equipment:
All of the four miniatures are modelled with windproof smocks and trousers and caps, so they are most likely to be employed in colder climates like the Falkland-Islands, Northern Ireland or Wales. Actually I am pretty sure that are the conflicts Robert thought of while making them.
They are done in "action-poses", two aiming their ArmaLites, one moving and one leaning on to a wall or other cover (Minis from left to right in the photograph). As in contact they are not equipped with heavy packs but mostly with pouches on a chestrig.

Sculpting and Scale:
Robert does his 20mm nearly perfectly to scale with 19mm from foot to eye. With this height they fit nearly to every other miniature in this scale. For me the face of a miniature is more important then anything else and the heads on these are quite nice. One firing modell as a rather odd shape of his nose, but that can be fixed with painting, as you will see in another photo, I post in a week, when all four models are done.
Especially nice are the overall proportions of Roberts figures. Another great point are the poses, which are realistic and well done.

Casting:
The castingquality is very good. There was nearly no cleaning work needed. The thin cast-on-base is another nice feature if you want to – like me – make a scenic base, for example with plaster filler.

Conclusion:
As two Miniatures are painted so far I can truly say that the painting was a lot of fun and I want to recommend Roberts minis to everyone who wants to look at another company and who wants to support a rather small one, which does really nice miniatures. So if you are interested in modern conflicts in 20mm scale head over to http://enfilade-figures.com/. Especially take a look at the News-section, where you can find the new releases on the left side. ( http://enfilade-figures.com/news-releases). I think Roberts skills in sculpting are getting better and better with every set he does. So maybe I'll get the SAS support weapons next.

Thanks for reading and have a great time painting

Dan
